Our “Why” to Exercise

Training Philosophy

At WFS our goal is to create physical longevity so that you can live and move actively and pain free throughout work and retirement. We believe that structured and organized strength training is the fastest way to improved physical health. Strength training is connected to improvements in posture, mood, cognitive function, chronic pain, cardiorespiratory function, bone mineral density, metabolism and much more.

At WFS we feel that it isn’t just about getting strong- it’s about making you stronger for the things you do in life.

As we work…

On average, Americans sit nearly 10 hours each day which can cause bad posture and strength loss. Poor posture can cause pain in your back, neck, hips and shoulders due to incorrect joint movement and immobility. Loss of strength from sedentary activity can cause you to move inefficiently and adjust daily life functions- resulting in further risk of injury. Thankfully, strength training can help correct posture, reduce pain and help you move and work more efficiently.

As we age…

Upwards of 50% of older adults (50 years of age of more) have a life-altering limitation called sarcopenia. Sarcopenia is the natural degeneration of muscle to a point where regular daily life functions (DLFs) are lost. DLFs include pressing or pulling from overhead, pushing or pulling horizontally, carrying load, hinging at the hip, and maintaining proper posture. With the loss of muscle mass needed to perform the DLFs successfully and on a regular basis, your quality of life can be negatively impacted as your ability to partake in healthy and fun social activities can be reduced. Additionally, sarcopenia shares a direct relation with osteoporosis/osteopenia- a common issue with age. The good news is that these problems can be hindered or defeated with the implementation of structured resistance and stability training on a regular basis.

WFS has helped me to do things I never thought I could do and they were always encouraging.”
